Dr. Tyrone Allen named CRC Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

Crowley’s Ridge College is honored to name Dr. Tyrone Allen as CRC’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. 

Dr. Allen is the seventh child of his family from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was baptized into Christ in 1976 in Morgan City, La.

He is a 1979 CRC alumnus, who would later get a BS from Harding University (1981) and a MA from Pepperdine University (1988) and began serving as a math teacher in 2001 with Montgomery County Public Schools, where he still serves today.

Since 2016, Dr. Allen has served as an adjunct math professor with the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Dr. Allen’s influence is felt beyond the classroom, as he’s served various Churches of Christ throughout Michigan, Arkansas, California, Tennessee, Washington, DC, and currently, Maryland since 1988.

Dr. Allen’s 45 years of service have been supported by his wife, Denise, who he met while he was a student at Pepperdine in 1981. The two have served the Churches of Christ since their marriage and continue to, as adult Bible teachers for the Silver Spring Church of Christ in Maryland. 

The couple enjoys spending time with their two granddaughters, Dyamonique and Gabriela, both of whom were baptized into Christ in 2016. They also enjoy traveling, as they have visited 37 states, Canada, the Caribbean, and Paris, where they always look for brothers and sisters in Christ to worship with.
