Greg Slayton
Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Science

Greg Slayton brings to the classroom more than a decade of collegiate teaching experience
across algebra, quantitative reasoning, and the physical sciences. He has taught extensively within the Arkansas Higher and Secondary education systems and has led curriculum development efforts designed to strengthen mathematical reasoning and student persistence. His work reflects a deep commitment to clarity, structure, and the belief that every student can learn to think mathematically.

Professor Slayton is an active contributor to statewide mathematics initiatives and professional organizations, supporting collaboration among universities/colleges and secondary educators. His instructional philosophy emphasizes constructive perseverance, conceptual understanding, and real-world application, equipping students not only to solve equations, but to reason well.

A native of Greene County, he is a graduate of Greene County Tech and earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Arkansas State University. He later completed an alternate teaching certification program through Texas A&M University and earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Pennsylvania State University.

Professor Slayton is a veteran of the United States Navy and also served in the Arkansas
National Guard, experiences that continue to shape his leadership style and sense of service. He and his wife, Joan, an English and Literature instructor, have been married since 1990. They live in Greene County, where he remains active in community service and lifelong learning.
