PARAGOULD, Ark.— Crowley’s Ridge College’s Division of Business and Technology announces a new partnership with 7th & Mueller Church of Christ Upward Sports program to provide students with hands-on learning and service opportunities through the organization’s 2027 youth basketball season.
The partnership will connect students enrolled in CRC’s SMG 313 Faith and Sport course with the day-to-day operations of the Upward youth basketball program, allowing them to apply concepts learned in the classroom while serving children, families, and volunteers in the community.
Beginning in January 2027 and continuing through March, students will participate in designated program activities as part of their course requirements. Responsibilities may include assisting with game-day operations, player and family check-in, scorekeeping, equipment management, event coordination, hospitality, marketing and communication, and other aspects of league operations.
“This partnership brings together my faith, my love of sports, and my purpose as an educator,” says Assistant Professor, Sports Management, Zach Perrin. “Through Upward Basketball, our students can serve families alongside the church and experience servant leadership firsthand.”
Through the partnership, students will gain practical experience in event operations, teamwork, leadership, communication, and youth sports ministry. The experience also reinforces the importance of positive sportsmanship and Christ-centered conduct in athletic environments.
The agreement establishes a structured service-learning experience, with Crowley’s Ridge College maintaining academic oversight and 7M Upward providing students with supervised opportunities to contribute to the program.
By connecting classroom learning with meaningful community involvement, Crowley’s Ridge College continues to emphasize the value of scholarship, spiritual life, and service in preparing students for their future careers and opportunities to make a difference.
