Alicia lives in Republic, Missouri, with her husband Seth and 2 children Titus and Eliza (ages 8 and 5).  Her past education includes a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma Christian in Math and Biology, a Master of Science in Medical Sciences from Mississippi College, and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Missouri State University.  After practicing medicine for 12 years, she now homeschools her children and has found this to be the time of greatest learning and challenge to date.  In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding and has been thrilled to share this pastime with her children as well.  She is passionate about sharing life in community and loves a hearttoheart conversation, especially hearing others tell their faith stories.  Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:28, “Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.”  She has previously spoken at Ladies’ Retreats, taught teen and adult women’s Bible classes, and volunteered at Bible camp as a speaker, song leader, nurse, cook, counselor, and anything else they will let her to do.  Her family attends the Republic Church of Christ where she currently teaches children’s Bible classes.

Abstract

When John wrote to fellow Christians with the strong warning “Do not love the world”, he had clear intentions to combat the idea that the physical world and physical actions are of no consequence as seemed to be taught by a group of people John calls the deceivers or antichrist. Loving the Father requires posturing our hearts in obedience to His commands and abstaining from sin. Unfortunately, we are seeing a similar trend in our current culture with regard to sin. We must be passionate about loving God, abstaining from any form of love for the world, and this must be demonstrated by our lifestyle. Further, the way we live has a direct impact on our ability to witness to a lost world; and at this point in time, we have some catching up to do.
