Abstract

John’s audience was in a crisis. Their ability to fully live out their faith was compromised. John sought to correct the course with healthy teaching that included a refocus on the relationship of loving God and keeping his commandments. Recapturing this divine synergy would enable these Christians to empower their faith-walk and remain secure in their relationship with the resurrected Christ. Likewise, our faith can only be fully realized by embracing the power found in following the command of God that we “walk in love.”
