Lou Ann McElyea                                                                        Associate Professor of Business and Technology

Bio

Mrs. McElyea is one of the most successful businesswomen in the mid-south with experience in management, business planning and process improvement, financial services, worldwide program management and online business education.  She is the founder and CEO of Information Systems, Inc. and is an experienced consultant for businesses of all sizes and industries.  Originally from St. Louis, McElyea was raised by her mother and best friend, Hazel.  She studied Business Administration at Washington University in St. Louis where she earned an honor on the Dean’s List, membership on the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society, and a certificate in Marketing Management.  She worked for Alltel Information Systems in Little Rock from 1997-2001, identifying and leading enterprise-wide business and information technology process reengineering projects before taking on a Director of Worldwide Program Management role for NCR Corporation in Dayton Ohio in 2001.  From there, McElyea saw the growth of online learning and developed the online business degree at Devry University where she also taught graduate level online management courses.  She was awarded the prestigious Ron Taylor Award in recognition of outstanding performance in 2008.  She also has academic experience at California Baptist University, Ohio Christian University, Letourneau University, College of William & Mary, Williams Baptist University, and Crowley’s Ridge College.  Mrs. McElyea loves mentoring students and especially hearing about their successes after graduation.  Her door (106C) is always open!
